WALTER CLORE
PRIVATE RESERVE
COLUMBIA CREST
COLUMBIA VALLEY RED WINE
2004
91 POINTS - WINE ADVOCATE

"The 2004 Walter Clore Private Reserve Red Blend is 54% Cabernet Sauvignon and 46% Merlot. It was aged in new French oak for 24 months. The aromatics deliver smoke, toast, spice box, cassis, and black currants. On the palate the wine is smooth textured and powerful. It has outstanding depth and concentration, enough structure to evolve for 4-5 years, and a long, pure finish.
FOLIE A DEUX
AMADOR COUNTY
ZINFANDEL
2005

Here is a fully resolved, old-fashioned Zinfandel that clearly illustrates why Italian farmers first planted this variety back in the mid-1800's throughout Amador County. On one hand it is ripe and juicy. On the other, it is rustic and country. The nose is dripping with cherries, vanilla, cinnamon and age. The palate is soft and generous. All in all, this is everything you'd expect from an Amador County Zinfandel

PLUNGERHEAD
OLD VINE ZINFANDEL
LODI, CALIFORNIA
2007

The mouth feel is soft but the flavors are vibrant with notes of cassis, vanilla rum, pecan pie, and black cherries with a warm, lingering finish. The 2007 Dry Creek Zin would be great with pecan crusted salmon with mushroom risotto, braised duck breast with caramelized leeks and turnips, or with a dessert of dark chocolate crème caramel garnished with fresh raspberries.

The flavors are of rich, chocolaty cherry, raspberry and blackberry flavors, with Zinny spices, while firm tannins and good acidity provide a rich structural balance. This is a lip-smackingly good Zinfandel.
STAGS LEAP
PETITE SYRAH
NAPA VALLEY
2005
90 POINTS - WILFRED WONG

Stags' Leap Winery's Petite Syrah comes from a 1920s-era field blend, which also includes small amounts of other Rhône varietals including syrah (8%), grenache (4%) and viognier (2%). The resulting wine is a rich purple color with a decadent nose full of blueberry and blackberry fruit and hints of cocoa. In the mouth, the wine is vibrant and expressive, continuing to display black fruits and chocolate with additional notes of espresso and spice. Structured, but balanced, this is an intense wine that will really start to show its stuff with a little bottle age.

90 POINTS - INTERNATIONAL WINE CELLAR

"50% Monastrell and 25% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo Dark red. Suave, oak-spiced cherry and cassis on the nose, with a gentle vanilla undertone. Sweet dark fruit flavors are round and supple, with soft tannins building on the back. Picks up a spicy quality on the long, juicy finish. The fruit and oak work very well together."
